FOMC Alerts Β· November 2, 2026
BoE RBA rate decisions November 2026 sit inside a broader lean of global central bank rate hikes into year-end β but only if you read the scoreboard bank by bank. The RBA has already delivered four 2026 cash-rate increases and could print a fifth at 10:30 PM ET tonight. The Fed hiked once on Sep 16, then held Oct 28 with Cook and Hammack dissenting for another +25 bp. The ECB hiked twice, then held Oct 29 with President Lagarde saying the direction of travel is clear into December. The BOJ hiked once, then held Oct 30 on an 8β1 vote. The BoE has not hiked in 2026 β Thursdayβs decision would be its first up-move this year if delivered. FatTail RateWatch Tool (CME fed funds futures): 78.3% December 9 hike odds as of 4:44 PM ET Mon Nov 2; odds of at least one hike by the January meeting 83.8%. Position over prediction: map the lean, donβt call the votes.
BoE and RBA November decisions: the G10 lean
Call it a synchronized lean toward tighter policy β not five banks mid consecutive-hike cycles. Energy-shock inflation kept upside risks on the table; several G10 boards hiked earlier in 2026, then held with hawkish color. The RBA is the clear mid-cycle case. The BoE is still flat at 3.75%. For U.S. rates and 0DTE, foreign decisions move differentials and sometimes the U.S. front end even when the FOMC is dark β then feed the path into the December Fed meeting (every date on the next Fed meeting schedule).
| Bank | Current rate | Last move | 2026 hiking? | Next |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fed | 3.75β4.00% | Hike Sep 16 (+25, 12β0); hold Oct 28 (10β2) | One hike, then hold | Dec 8β9 |
| ECB | DFR 2.50% | Hikes Jun 17 & Sep 16; hold Oct 29 | Two hikes, then hawkish hold | Dec 16β17 |
| BOJ | 1.25% | Hike Sep 18; hold Oct 30 (8β1) | One hike, then hawkish hold | per BOJ calendar |
| BoE | Bank Rate 3.75% | Hold ending 16 Sep (6β3 for hold) | Has not hiked in 2026 | 5 Nov 2026 β7:00 AM EST |
| RBA | Cash 4.60% (eff 30 Sep) | Four 2026 hikes (Feb/Mar/May/Sep) | Mid-cycle; Tue hike = fifth | 3 Nov 2:30 pm AEDT β10:30 PM EST Mon |

How do RBA and BoE decisions inject energy into U.S. markets?
RBA: the Board sets the cash rate; the statement prints 2:30 pm Sydney time. AUD and Australian yields move first; the U.S. session often sees AUD and occasional front-end spill. Another hike would reinforce the global-tighter narrative into Fed Dec 8β9 β still a scenario map, not a call.
BoE: the MPC sets Bank Rate; the typical release is 12:00 GMT, which is 7:00 AM EST on 5 Nov while the UK is on GMT. Gilts and sterling move first; U.S. 2y and ES often react in the overlap. A first 2026 hike would be new G10 information via relative rates β again, map scenarios, donβt predict the vote.
Mechanisms (no forecast): rate differentials; the dollar channel (we do not quote GBP/AUD/JPY/DXY this pull β Massive forex not entitled); and term premium. KimβWright 10-year term premium (FRED THREEFYTP10) last printed 0.9358% as of 2026-10-23 (FRED lag).

What did Lagarde and Bailey say?
On Oct 29, after the ECB held the deposit facility at 2.50%, President Christine Lagarde said in the press-conference Q&A that, unless there was a major development, “the direction of travel is quite clear for all of us” (ECB Q&A transcript). That is hawkish-hold color into December β not a pre-commitment to a hike.
On the BoE Bank Rate explainer reflecting the September hold, Governor Andrew Bailey said: “Today, we’ve held Bank Rate at 3.75%. So far, higher global energy costs have had a limited effect on price and wage setting in the UK. But the longer this volatility persists, the bigger the impact it will have on inflation, and the more likely it is we will need to raise Bank Rate to ensure that inflation falls back to our 2% target” (BoE Bank Rate page). Sep minutes show a 6β3 hold (Greene, Mann, and Pill preferred 4%).
U.S. yields, Fed odds, and the tape
U.S. Treasuries β latest daily print on Massiveβs Treasury yields feed β 2-year 4.61%, 10-year 4.98%, dated 2026-10-29 (H.15 daily; no newer print as of this draft on Mon Nov 2). Label: Massive /fed/v1/treasury-yields (latest daily print; dated 2026-10-29; Nov 2 H.15 not yet published as of draft).
FatTail RateWatch Tool (CME fed funds futures, CME day-weight method): as of 2026-11-02 16:44:18 EST, December 9 hike 78.3% / hold 21.7% / cut 0%; cumulative odds of at least one hike by the January 27 meeting 83.8% (16.2% still in 3.75β4.00). Live desk path: RateWatch.
Futures tape β9:02 AM ET Mon Nov 2 (Massive REAL-TIME futures snapshot): ESZ6 7652.25 (+38.25 vs prior settlement); CLZ6 97.66 (β6.46); GCZ6 3954.2 (+55.3). Cite ES, not cash SPX this pull. VIX was near 19.1 at an earlier Massive read (~8:54 AM ET); we are not inventing a later cash VIX print.
What it means for 0DTE
This is scheduled global-CB event risk into a non-FOMC week for the Fed. RBA lands overnight U.S. time; BoE hits the U.S. morning open Thursday. Either can reprice differentials and the U.S. front end without a domestic FOMC statement. For base rates on FOMC days themselves, our scheduled-meeting history since 2015 shows median |SPX| 0.55% and median VIX change β0.27 pts (n=94) β descriptive, not a forecast for foreign-CB days.
- Energy: scheduled foreign-CB event risk (RBA 10:30 PM ET tonight / BoE Thu 7:00 AM EST), not a domestic Fed print. Classify transmission into U.S. 2y / ES / Dec odds.
- Premium: let the VIX price the session; a hawkish foreign hold or hike is not automatic license to pay up for premium on a non-FOMC day.
- Structure: defined risk only; know max loss before entry; size for an overnight or open gap through your strikes.
- Plan, don’t predict: write two scenarios before you size β (1) RBA/BoE deliver hawkish color and U.S. front-end odds firm into Dec 8β9, (2) a hold or dovish miss eases differentials and Dec odds fade. Decide position rules in advance. Live updates sit on the FOMC Alerts hub.
